The Queen Is Looking for Her Very Own Chip or Joanna Gaines — and It Could Be You

Queen Elizabeth may be the longest-running and most beloved royal of all time, but she didn’t get there alone. For her entire life, Queen Elizabeth has had a trusty staff by her side to help her plan her every move, make her every meal, and even assist her in carrying her purse. And now, the Queen is looking to add one more member to her staff. She’s looking for a property project manager. And that project manager could be you.

But, what exactly does a property project manager do? According to the job listing, the person joining the in-house team will “manage an extremely varied portfolio of major projects across the Royal estate in London.” The person will prepare specifications and schedules of work for home projects and renovations. He or she will find and appoint contractors and ensure work is delivered on time and within budget. Basically, for all you HGTV fans out there, she's looking for a royal Joanna Gaines.

As for who will be a good fit for the role, the royal household is looking for someone who comes with plenty of project management experience. The posting adds that the experience was “ideally gained within historic occupied buildings.”

The person must be an expert at managing end-to-end projects from procurement, financial governance, and contract management. The person must be supremely organized and can work under tight deadlines and is a whiz at “anticipating issues.”

The person who fills the role must be a “natural communicator and collaborator used to working with colleagues, contractors and in-house teams, you'll quickly build credibility at all levels.” Additionally, they must also be an “internal customer champion, with agility and resourcefulness, you'll deliver projects that everyone will be proud about.”

The job will require someone to work 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. In return, the person will receive a salary of £40,000 - £50,000 ($48,446 - $60,582) dependent upon experience. Think you’ve got what it takes? Apply here, but act fast as the job listing expires on Aug. 4.

Prince Harry Happily Broke Royal Protocol by Performing ‘Chimp Greeting’ With Jane Goodall

Prince Harry has long been known as the rebellious royal. Though his bad-boy image has softened a bit over recent years — especially following his royal wedding to Meghan Markle and the birth of his son Archie — Harry is still known to break the rules every now and then. Just as he did this week when greeting famed primatologist Jane Goodall.

On Tuesday, while attending Goodall's environmental program Roots & Shoots' sixth global leadership event at St George's House at Windsor Castle, Harry warmly greeted Goodall with a traditional primate greeting she taught the Prince several years ago.

In an Instagram caption, Royal Sussex explained, “The pair share an impromptu dance and ‘Chimpanzee Greeting’ which Jane taught The Duke when they first met. Today’s event was full of education, inspiration and fun. Because working hard and playing hard are not mutually exclusive.”

In the video, Prince Harry leads Goodall in a short dance, just as the primates do. Then, as the male in the pair, Harry pats her on the head before the two embrace and pat one another on the back. As Business Insider explained, the greeting goes against royal protocol, which dictates anything beyond a simple handshake is a no-no.

Beyond sharing a hug with Goodall, Harry also spoke at the event, passionately conveying the importance of conservation.

"As my grandmother, The Queen once said, 'Sometimes the world's problems are so big we think we can do little to help,'" Harry said, according to CNN. "On our own, we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine."

In a second Instagram post from the event, Sussex Royal explained that Harry’s commitment to conservation and environmentalism truly runs deep.

“His Royal Highness believes that people are at the heart of conservation and sustainability and that in order to succeed we need an inclusive, community-centred approach,” the caption reads. “After listening to presentations on endangered species, reducing plastic waste and embracing the wild, The Duke had the chance to thank all the young people taking part for their efforts and the difference they are making every single day.”

The Goodall Institute is hopeful that the Prince’s involvement will further illuminate their cause. As Goodall Institute spokesman Shawn Sweeney told CNN, "We know that [Prince Harry] is keenly involved in youth and global environmental issues and Dr. Goodall believes that his visit will inspire the participants knowing that someone of his stature is eager to learn of their efforts.”

The Royal Family Is Vacationing on This Exclusive Caribbean Island

Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are officially on summer vacation.

Instead of hanging out in the backyard pool, they’ve instead taken the whole family to one of the most beautiful islands in the world.

The royal couple, along with their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are vacationing on the Caribbean island of Mustique.

The island, located in the St. Vincent and the Grenadine island collection, is a royal favorite. People reported it was once used by Princess Margaret in the 1970s as an oasis away from prying eyes while she had marriage troubles. After spending time on the island the private island’s owner gifted her with 10 acres all her own. The royals have been flocking to it for a private retreat ever since.

According to The Sun, the royal family will celebrate Prince George’s sixth birthday on the island.

It’s unlikely fans will be able to catch a glimpse of the family on the island, even in photos. This is a private visit, and the island has its own police force who are more than happy to protect some of their favorite visitors.

“It’s about as close as they can come to without going to total wilderness as they did on their honeymoon when they went to an island in the middle of nowhere,” a royal source told The Sun. “To go to a place with two bars and a few other people, and not feel totally isolated Mustique is perfect.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Now Have Their Own Charity

 cleanString alt

It’s official: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have separated their own charity from Prince William and Kate Middleton.

In June, Harry and Meghan announced their plans to leave the foundation Harry started alongside William and Kate in 2009 so they could start their own.

At the time the palace shared in a statement, "Later this year The Royal Foundation will become the principal charitable and philanthropic vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.” It added, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will establish their own new charitable foundation with transitional operating support from The Royal Foundation. In addition, both couples will continue to work together on projects in the future, including on The Foundation's mental health program, Heads Together."

Now that plan is finally coming into fruition.

Royal reporter Emily Andrews obtained a photo of the company's registration certificate that showed the new charity will be named "Sussex Royal The Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” Though the name is certainly a mouthful it happens to be reminiscent of the couple’s Instagram account, @SussexRoyal, showing they’ve likely thought a great deal about the marketing.

The certificate also showed the pair registered the name just weeks after announcing their charitable split from the Cambridges.

But, that’s really all the information we know for now. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told Business Insider, "there are no plans currently to release any further information about Sussex Royal."

However, it may be safe to assume that Meghan and Harry’s upcoming trip to Africa will have some tie to the charity. It’s also likely safe to assume that the charity will continue to support causes close to the couple, including conservation and mental health.

Though the royal couples have professionally split they still remain grateful for their time together. As a spokesman for the royal couples said in June, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are incredibly proud of what they have achieved together through The Royal Foundation. They are especially proud to have established a charity that has had, and will continue to have, significant long-lasting impact, changing lives for the better."

This Is When the Royal Children Will Start Bowing to the Queen (Video)

Sure, you may have to kiss your grandma when she comes in, hug your cousins, and play with your little sister, but you should try being a royal for a day. After all, they are the ones that need to bow to their great-grandma by age five.

According to royal expert Marlene Eilers Koenig, that is the age when the royal children will be expected to bow to Queen Elizabeth, the sovereign of the United Kingdom.

 cleanString alt

Chris Jackson/Getty Images

“Certainly by age five. The only person they will curtsy or bow to is the sovereign. A royal highness does not curtsy to another royal highness,” she told Hello! Magazine in a 2018 interview. “Yes, there are articles that state this, but it is not true.”

According to Koenig, this practice of bowing or curtsying has nothing to do with any official royal precedence. Instead, it’s merely “etiquette.”

“You bow or curtsy the first time you see the sovereign and then again when you leave,” she said, noting we all saw this happen at Christmas services.

“...at church, we saw the Cambridges and Prince Harry and Meghan curtsy and bow when the Queen arrived and left. Other royals including Charles did not because they had come from Sandringham and had already seen the Queen.”

Though we know from the Christmas event that Harry and Meghan, Kate, and William all already bow to their grandmother and grandmother-in-law, what’s a little unknown is if any of their children do as well.

As Marie Claire pointed out, Prince George turns six years old next week, meaning he may be the only kid currently bowing to Queen Elizabeth. Though, Charlotte is four so isn’t that far beyond. We think Prince Louis, who is just one, and Archie, who is a mere infant, both get a pass. But, it will be no time at all before they are bowing and learning the other royal rules like never going to bed before the Queen, never wearing black, and never ever eating shrimp while traveling.

The Adorable Parenting Advice Jay Z and Beyonce Gave to Prince Harry and Meghan

Over the weekend, Meghan Markle took a bit of time away from her maternity leave for a much-deserved date night with her husband, Prince Harry. But, this wasn’t any old date night. This was movie night alongside Beyonce, who happened to give the couple seriously sage parenting advice.

The royal couple attended the London premiere of "The Lion King" on Sunday evening, warmly greeting fans along the red carpet. And, inside the theater, the couple also got to meet the king and queen of music — Beyonce and her husband Jay Z.

Upon their meeting, the two couples warmly hugged and said their hellos. The moment was even captured by royal reporter Rebecca English.

Their chatter quickly turned to babies, as Jay and Beyonce are parents to three adorable kids themselves.

According to The Daily Mail, Beyonce kicked off the conversation about kids, telling Harry and Meghan their new son, Archie, was “beautiful.”

"The baby is so beautiful, we love you guys,” Beyonce said, according to Business Insider.

Harry and Meghan both thanked them before Harry replied, "And how are the twins?"

Beyonce noted, "They are not here. They don't come on every trip. We left them at home. They would have loved to be here.”

Before the two couples parted ways Jay Z pulled Harry to the side to offer a bit of simple, but important, parting advice. According to Business Insider, the rapper told the Prince, "The best advice I can give you, always find time for yourself."

Beyond Jay Z and Beyonce the royals also met with more of "The Lion King" Cast and even announced a partnership with Disney and its new Protect the Pride initiative. According to Good Morning America, the Royal Foundation will help support the media company’s world-wide conversation around lion conservation. All of which sounds like a pretty good reason to get Archie a babysitter for the night.

Think You’re Organized Enough to Maintain Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Busy Schedules? They’re Hiring.

Are you a highly-organized person who is great at also keeping secrets? Kate Middleton and Prince William may have a job for you.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a new open vacancy on the royal employment website seeking a Diary Coordinator to join their team.

The person will be responsible for “managing the seamless delivery of multiple complex diaries to ensure the smooth and effective coordination of engagements and events.” AKA the person will be responsible for ensuring Prince William and Kate never double-book themselves on events.

This will involve “compiling and managing coordinated diary updates and weekly overviews; providing regular briefings; communicating diary changes to all key stakeholders, both internally and externally; and carrying out follow-up actions as necessary, as well as ensuring that all events and engagements are accurately recorded.”

To fill the role the palace is specifically looking for someone who has “a proven ability to manage complex diaries and will have excellent communication skills.”

They also want someone who is willing to act as a team player and someone who can “develop strong working relationships at all levels and with all stakeholders.” They also are seeking someone who is proactive, flexible and has strong initiative skills. And, this person must work efficiently under pressure “whilst prioritizing a demanding workload.”

Of course, you’ve also gotta have strong attention to detail as well as advanced IT skills, though we are a little unsure of how a computer degree will help manage a diary. Perhaps most importantly, the right candidate must possess “the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion at all times.” The job description notes this is “paramount.”

Though the listing doesn’t mention a salary the royal family is typically well-known for not only paying its staff well but also offering a comprehensive package that includes plenty of time off and benefits. And, you know, getting to hang out with a bunch of cool royals may make this job worth it as well. If this job isn’t for you, you could always apply for other royal gigs, like being the Queen’s personal social media manager instead.

Roger Federer Took a Break From Wimbledon to Give Prince George a Tennis Lesson

London has Wimbledon fever at the moment, and the royals are no exception. Not even the littlest ones.

Tennis star Roger Federer told The Daily Star this week that, between matches at the championship tournament, he stopped by the Cambridge family’s palace in Berkshire to give Prince George a private one-on-one lesson.

“He’s a cute boy,” Federer said in the interview. “I love to see they’re into tennis or into sport. His mum has always enjoyed tennis. I hope he’ll stay the same in a few years’ time and this is not just an in-the-moment situation.”

Federer said that the lesson was pretty basic. “At that stage it’s all about touching the ball,” he said.

But even though it may not have involved an epic volley, Prince George was likely starstruck at the lesson. Federer told newspapers that the young royal told him that he was his favorite player.

But don’t think that George is just some dilettante tennis player, only interested in the game to meet celebrities. Even though he’s only five years old, the prince has been playing for years. Back in 2017, a royal tennis instructor said that George showed up on the tennis court with his mom. “She said he’s interested in it but more in whacking the ball,” coach Sam Richardson said.

Prince George apparently has no idea he’s in line to become king of the United Kingdom, so perhaps he’s nursing dreams of becoming a tennis champion.

Mum Kate Middleton has long been a tennis fan. She’s appeared at several tennis events since becoming a duchess, maintains a court at her home, and is a patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, which hosts Wimbledon every year.

Why the Queen Will Not Attend Baby Archie's Christening This Weekend

 cleanString alt

In May, Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry welcomed their first child into the world, a beautiful son named Archie. Since then, the pair have remained pretty silent about their little bundle of joy, choosing instead to quietly celebrate his first few weeks of life together. That is expected to change this weekend when the royal couple celebrates Archie’s christening with family and friends. However, there is one person who will not be attending the event — Archie’s great-grandmother, the Queen.

According to The Daily Mail, Queen Elizabeth will not be able to attend the christening alongside the rest of the Windsor family due to a prior engagement. That engagement? According to the report, the Queen and her husband, Prince Philip, planned a quiet vacation together to Sandringham for Holyrood Week several months ago that they just simply cannot miss.

But, as Marie Claire noted, it’s really not a big deal that the Queen will not be in attendance. In fact, she’s missed the christenings of several of her great-grandchildren. Though she was on hand for both Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s big day, she was not in attendance for Prince Louis' baptism last year.

The Daily Mail also noted that the date of Archie’s christening was already moved once. Archie’s original christening date was reportedly Friday, July 5, however, Meghan and Harry chose to move it to Saturday to accommodate Harry’s father, Prince Charles.

Still, Harry and Meghan’s decision to not move the date again to accommodate the Queen came as a surprise to some staffers at the royal residence.

“There is huge support for the couple in not wanting to conform to tradition,” a senior staff member from Buckingham told The Daily Mail. “They are young, they are striking out on a different path from other members of the Royal Family and there is enormous goodwill for them. But they shouldn’t do that without regard for tradition.” The staff member added, “Her Majesty was already scheduled to be in Scotland for her annual Holyrood Week and had a prior engagement at the weekend. There is a feeling amongst some that they should have been more accommodating about the date.”

But, as anyone who’s ever thrown a family event before will tell you, trying to align every single person’s schedule is a nightmare. Nevermind the fact that the great-grandmother in this situation is the freaking Queen of England. So, perhaps people should just let this one slide for Harry, Meghan, and Archie’s sakes.

Oh, and sorry fans, we aren’t invited to the christening either. Harry and Meghan have denied access to photographers and videographers and will not allow any recordings of the royal family arriving. However, the couple did note it will release a small number of photos to the press following the event and you’ll likely be able to check them out on the couple’s Instagram account as well.

The World's Youngest Queen Will Be Your New Favorite Royal

 cleanString alt

Triston Yeo/Getty Images

There’s a new queen in town, and no we aren’t talking about Kate Middleton.

While the rest of the world was busy paying attention to the comings and goings of the British royal family in 2011, the Kingdom of Bhutan named a new queen: Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck. And frankly, she’s just as worthy of your admiration (if not more so). Keep scrolling to learn more about your new royal obsession.

She’s the Youngest Living Queen on Earth

At age 27, Queen Jetsun is the youngest reigning queen in the world. She gained her title in 2011 when she married Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, otherwise known as Bhutan's “Dragon King.” At the time she was just 21 years old. Of his wife, the king told reporters: “I have been waiting for quite some time to get married. But it doesn’t matter when you get married as long as it is to the right person. I am certain I am married to the right person.”

She Has Her Own Royal Roots

According to the Washington Post, Queen Jetsun’s paternal great-grandfather was lord of the eastern province of Tashigang. Meanwhile her maternal grandfather was the half-brother of the wife of Bhutan’s second king. The King, her now husband, also dated Pema’s cousin while studying at Oxford.

She’s an Avid Art Lover

Queen Jetsun is reportedly “passionate about fine arts and painting.” She first learned to love art while studying at a private boarding school in India. There, she studied English, history, economics, geography, and painting, according to her official biography. She then went on to study Psychology and Art History at Regent’s University in London.

She’s a Style Icon

Sure, Middleton’s clothing may sell out in minutes, but Queen Jetsun is no slouch in the wardrobe department either. The stunning royal is often seen sporting the bright, colorful, and traditional clothing of her country, with just a touch of modern style. While traveling, her biography noted, she will often switch into Western-style outfits.

She’s a Mom

On February, 5 2016 the royal pair welcomed their first child, a son named His Royal HIghness Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck. On the day of his birth, the country planted 108,000 tree saplings. Dasho Karma Raydi, a volunteer who assisted in planting the trees, told BBC: "We are now nurturing the plants as if we are nurturing the little prince.”

She Cares Deeply About Her Causes

As her Facebook page noted, Her Majesty is the Royal Patron of several organizations that work with conservation, environment, and advocacy for persons with disabilities. Beyond her work with nonprofits the Queen also supports cottage-based entrepreneurs and rural economic projects. So truly, she’s a queen of the people.

How Will and Kate Plan to Make Prince George’s First Day of School 'Normal'

This story was originally published on August 30, 2017.

No parent wants their child to feel like the odd kid out at school.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will do their best to ensure that Prince George experiences his first day of school just like any other child — with his parents dropping him off.

The royal family will accompany their son to his first day of preschool on September 7, according to The Telegraph.

Although it’s likely that George will have different presentations for show-and-tell or perhaps bring a slightly different packed lunch, the royal family is doing its best to give him a normal-ish school experience this year.

Related: All the Countries Prince George Traveled to Before His 4th Birthday

But, then again, George’s schooling won’t be all that normal. He’s signed up for Thomas’s Battersea in London, where fees cost about $21,600 per year. The Good Schools Guide described the institution as a “big, busy, slightly chaotic school for cosmopolitan parents who want their children to have the best English education money can buy.”

The decision to send George to this school echoes a choice made by Princess Diana 30 years ago. Prince William was the first British royal to attend schooling outside of the palace. It remains to be seen if Kate Middleton will take another hint from Diana and mark her children’s school events in her official royal calendar.

Nevertheless, for those visiting London and hoping for a royal spotting, Thomas’s on the South Bank is a promising new addition.

The Definitive Guide to Will and Kate's London

London has a long history with royalty.

The capital has been the seat of British power since Alfred the Great “refounded” it in 886. For well over 1,000 years the city has been home and office for British royalty—and that’s likely how it will stay for the foreseeable future.

Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that they will move back to London with their two children in the fall.

Even though the royal family has hidden away in country homes over the past few years, they are no strangers to the British capital. William grew up in London, and Kate grew up just 45 minutes outside the city.

But this time in London will be different than when they lived there before. After university, the couple moved back to the city, becoming fixtures on the nightlife scene and bopping around between fashionable restaurants, bars and shops. Although it wasn’t all fun and games—Kate was employed as an accessories buyer for a local shop while William was flying a helicopter for the Royal Air Force.

When the family moves back to London they will likely hit up a few of their favorite haunts. Here’s where you may be able to spot them in, around and outside of London. And if you're planning a walking tour, consider investing in Kate Middleton's boat shoes or sneakers.

The Best Travel Moments of Prince George's 3-Year Life

His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge reached a milestone Friday: His third birthday.

And although he's still a toddler, the third-in-line to the British throne has already traveled internationally with his parents.

He took a tour to New Zealand and Australia in 2014, following in his father's footsteps—Prince William took a trip down under with his royal parents in 1983.

Earlier this year, Prince George and his sister Princess Charlotte took their first ski holiday, to the French Alps.

If Prince George continues to follow his father's footsteps, there will be many trips in his future. Luckily, it looks like he was born to travel.

In Photos: Prince William and Kate Middleton on Their Royal Tour of India and Bhutan

William and Kate have completed their seven-day tour of India and Bhutan that was filled with engagements that included a stay at the Taj Palace Hotel in Mumbai, playing a round of cricket, meetoing with representatives of various charities, attendeding a Bollywood dinner reception, going on safari, visiting a Buddhist temple, and posing in front of the Taj Mahal.

On April 11, the royal couple flew into New Delhi, where they laid a wreath of marigolds at India Gate, a memorial to the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died while fighting for the British Army during World War I. "Never forgetting those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for India," read a note on the wreath signed William and Catherine.

After the ceremony, the Duke and Duchess made their way to Gandhi Smriti, a museum where Mahatma Gandhi spent the final years of his life. They received a private tour, where they saw Gandhi’s bedroom and retraced India’s founding father’s final footsteps.

Will and Kate then watched a children's choir performance, and the Prince later tried his hand at Indian cooking. The pair topped off their day by attending an early birthday party held in honor of the Queen, who turns 90 on April 21. (Obviously, they cut the large cake with a sword.)

Over the past couple of days the duo had a private meeting with NGOs working in Delhi before they headed to the Kaziranga National Park in the state of Assam to watch a local fireside festival and go on safari. They then headed to Bhutan where they were greeted by King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his wife Jetsun Pema.

On the couple's last day, they visited the famous Taj Mahal and sat on the same bench that Diana famously sat on in 1992, when she was visiting the monument by herself without Prince Charles.

Of course, folks have become obsessed with Kate’s various travel looks, which included a red Alexander McQueen dress, a patterned midi dress by Mumbai designer Anita Dongre, a cobalt blue Jenny Packham gown, a cream knee-length dress by Emilia Wickstead, a black and white Temperley London gown, a Glamorous Red Navy Boarder Print Lace Up Maxi, a green dress by Temperley London, a printed Anna Sui dress, a dotted RM Williams button-up, brown biker pants by Zara, a Topshop Embroidered Print Midi Dress, and a blue and white Naeem Khan dress.

Onward, for photos of their whirlwind trip.
